12 Days Nyenpo Yurtse Trek, Qinghai (Amdo Tsongon)

Our representative will receive you from Xining airport/ train station and will be transferred to your hotel. Take a good rest at your hotel and get more familiar with new environment.

We will have a smooth drive to Rebkong to visit Upper and Lower Sanggeshong Monasteries. Rebkong is famously known to their skillful Tibetan traditional thangka paintings and you will see few of the most well-known master pieces in these monasteries. In the afternoon, we are visiting Gomar Stupa and Rongwu Gonchen Monastery. It is mother monastery of 35 other monasteries in this region.

Right after your fresh breakfast, we are driving for 93 miles (150 kilometers) to Sanggchu (Xia’he) to visit Labrang Monastery. Enjoy the differently beautiful villages and scenery of Eastern Tibet throughout the way. Our guide will escort you in and around Labrang Monastery which is one of the biggest and oldest Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. Labrang street is touched with different culture and art crafts. You will have a good time around this colorful street.

After 4 hours of drive, you will reach to Taktsang Lhamo or Lang’mu’si. Taktsang means “Tiger Cave” in Tibetan. Lhamo lies in a beautiful valley surrounded by alpine forests and amazing mountains. You could also visit Kirti Monastery situated in the hills of Sichuan side.

Taktsang Lhamo is mostly attracted towards it’s surrounding mountains for hiking and beautiful grasslands for horse riding. Normally people do trekking around this wonderful place for 1 – 5 days so 1 day hike here is quite short yet you will gain beautiful experiences in the end of the day.

After your breakfast, we will be heading towards Shetso Lake via Machu County by cab. You will meet your Yaks and nomad crew to assist you to get ready for Nyenpo Yurtse trek. Shetso Lake is the most beautiful lake in the Geo-park. The shores are carpeted with wild flowers unleashing intoxicating perfume aroma. You could also walk along the shore and wander into nearby mountains on your own. Tonight we are camping at this shore. Enjoy nature!

Now, you must be well prepared to trek against Nyenpo Yurtse after 6 days of familiarizing with the plateau weather, altitude and environment. Take pleasure in nature and romance with nature. This would be a very beautiful beginning of your trekking at Nyenpo Yurtse.

Today is the last day of trekking and your driver would be waiting you at your lunch time. Driving back to Jigdril or Machen County.

Today, we are hiking up to Shala Pass 12,467 ft (3,800 m) to have a look of the panoramic view of splendid Qinhai Lake with animals and camp sites of Tibetan nomad herders. In the evening, you will be installed to your hotel at Xining.
