Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Lhasa

Our guide will greet you at airport/ train station and transfer you to your Hotel. Our staff will give you a brief orientation about this trip and the rest of the day will be your own to take rest. Drink lots of water and take a good rest at your hotel room to avoid altitude sickness and dehydration.

Day 2Lhasa: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street

The first four days of this trip is for acclimation and avoid jet-lag including Yesterday. This morning, we are visiting Potala Palace for a detail learning about this magnificent building’ s architect and stories and followed by visiting mystery Jokhang temple. Have a look around Barkhore Street to enjoy different artifacts, spiritual equipment and the global visitors to this Holy City, Lhasa.

Day 3Lhasa: Drepung & Sera Monasteries, Ramoche Temple

Right after your breakfast, our guide will escort you to visit Drepung and Sera Monasteries which are the biggest and oldest Gelugpa sect’s monasteries from many other monasteries. Ramoche Temple is another essence to this day.

Day 4Lhasa - Shigatse (Yamdro Lake, Karola Glacier, Gyantse)

After your breakfast, we are moving forward to Shigatse through beautiful Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier and Gyantse Pekor Choede Monastery. You will get to feel the authenticity of every spots mentioned and enough time to explore around. This evening we would reach to Shigatse where your hotel has booked.

Day 5Shigatse - Lhatse (4000m), 200km, approx 4hrs

Drive to Lhatse from Shigatse today. Enjoy the stunning landscape along the way up to Lhatse. Stay overnight in Lhatse.

Day 6Lhatse - Saga (300km, 8-9 hours)

Drive to Saga from Lhatse today. Enjoy the stunning landscape along the way up to Saga. Drive through typical Tibetan villages where you can see how normal Tibetans live. Stay overnight in Saga. Saga’s altitude is 4,640m above sea level. Very close to the Nepalese/China border, you will see a garrison of Chinese border soldiers in Saga that patrol the area. Saga is the last stop for pilgrims and travelers on their way to Mt. Kailash.

Day 7 Saga - Mansarovar Lake (223km, 5-6 hours)

Today, you will arrive at the Holy Mansarovar Lake after a 5-6 hour drive. This holy lake is one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world (4,590m above sea level). It is also one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus and Buddhists. In Hinduism Lake Manasarovar is a personification of purity, and one who drinks water from the lake is believed to be cleansed of all his sins committed over even a hundred lifetimes. The lake is very popular in Buddhist literature and associated with many teachings and stories in Buddhism. Lord Buddha, it is reported, stayed and meditated near this lake on several occasions. Mansarovar Lake attracts thousands of tourists and religious people every year from all over the world.

Day 8Mansarovar Lake to Darchen (223km, 5-6 hours)

Today, enjoy the sunrise over Mansarovar Lake, and then have a picnic lunch on the bank of the Holy Lake. Later, drive to Darchen (4,575m), s small village with a couple of guesthouses located beneath the majestic holy Mount Kailash.
During auspicious pilgrimage times, Darchen will be flooded with Pilgrims with hundreds of tents all over the small village. Darchen is both the beginning and end point of the Kora.

Day 9Trek Day 1: Dirapuk Monastery (5-6 hrs, 20km)

Trek from Darchen (4,560m) to Dirapuk Monastery (4,750m). The trek is a gradual walk with local pilgrims chanting and praying along the way. Camp on nice grassy meadows with a view of Kailash, northwest face at Dirapuk for overnight halt.

Day 10Trek Day 2: Zutulpuk Monastery (6-7 hrs, 15km)

Trek from Dirapuk Monastery to Zutulpuk Monastery by crossing Drolma-la Pass (5,200m) before quickly descending to Dzutul-puk monastery (Dzutul-puk means “magical cave” in Tibetan). Camp overnight near the monastery, beneath Mt. Kailash.

Day 11Trek Day 3: Back to Darchen (4-5 hrs,14km)

The winding trails finally end at our holy pilgrimage site after roughly a 5 hour trek. Today was the last day of trekking, hope you have earned good results from this thrilling trekking. Stay overnight at Darchen and Tomorrow we are driving towards Guge, the final destination of this trip.

Day 12Darchen - Guge (4500m), 270km, approx 5hrs

The vast sweep of the Himalayas is discernible, as the range turns North West from Nepal along the Indian border as far as Ladakh and Kashmir spanning several hundred kilometers. Moreover, ruins of temples and caves of ancient Guge kingdom still breathing with exquisite murals and decorative motifs that dating back with more than 1000 years.

Day 13Guge - Darchen (4560m), 270km, approx 5hrs

After visiting the adventurous Guge Kingdom and it’s landscape, we are heading back to Darchen.

Day 14Darchen - Saga (4600m), 550km, approx 9hrs

After breakfast, drive back to Saga. Stay overnight in Saga.There will be many pilgrims and travelers going toward Mt. Kailash. You could also enjoy the wonderful sand dunes of the region. Soak in the atmosphere!

Day 15Saga - Lhatse (4000m), 312km, approx 7hrs

From this drive from Saga to Lhatse, you would observe the different environment covered with desert. Tonight, we are stopping at a farmer’s lodge.

Day 16Lhatse-Lhasa (3680m), 520km, approx 9hrs

Tracing through the Northern friendship highway, we would drive along with Brahmaputra river to reach Lhasa. We would arrive in Lhasa in the afternoon. Since then, you will can enjoy your leisure time in and around Barkhor street.

Day 17Departure

Today is your last day on the Tibet plateau. Our guide and drive will drop you to airport/ train station as per your journey schedule. Thank you for choosing us!
