Meals & Accommodations: As Specified in the itinerary
The tour would start off with morning drive from Xining to Lake Kokonor, also known as Qinghai Lake, the largest salt water source in Asia at 10,499 feet (3200 meters) above sea level. You would drive through Sun & Moon mountain where the princess Wenchen took the road to Tibet autonomous region in 7th century. At arrival to 151 settlement, we will enter Er’Lang’Jian scenic spot to explore the Qinghai Lake (Boat and other activities at your own expenses). Lunch at Qinghai lake and then drive to Chabcha Town through Shala Pass, where you will see panoramic breathtaking view of the lake. You can also hike around 1 hour up to the Shala pass (12,467 ft./3800m above sea level). Local nomads herd their animals on the wide beautiful grassland in Summer. You can enjoy fresh she-yak yogurt from the nomads.
Overnight: at a local hotel
After breakfast, drive away to Mangzong. Pay a visit to Atsok Monastery, a remote and old monastery located in a deep valley of the Yellow River, where the landscape is incredible. Cross over the river through a newly built bridge (the highest and the longest bridge in Qinghai) and continue drive to Kushug Village near Mangzong county.
Overnight: Home-stay at a Peasant Host
Breakfast with the Tibetan host family and continue drive to Sogwo through astounding Tsekog grasslands. Explore the livelihood of Tibetan-Mongolian nomad life. You could hands on experience to herd and milking she-yaks. Sogwo is a wide landscape grassland where it is a good to experience horseback riding(own expense).
Overnight: Home stay with Tibetan nomad family
Enjoy breakfast with your host nomad family and start engine to Repkong. Repkong is the capital city of Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous prefecture. This place is rich in Tibetan culture and traditional arts, and it hosts a special Mountain God Festivals called ‘Lurol’ in Summer. This region’s Tibetan Thangka painting skills is famously known in throughout the Tibet. This troop would not miss to explore the arts of Tibetan Thanka Painting by visiting both Upper and Lower Sengeshong Monasteries.
Overnight: Home-stay with an Urban Tibetan Family
Morning breakfast would bid the tour to visit Rongwu Gonchen monastery, the mother monastery of 35 others in the region. This monastery is quite large enough as it takes almost 3 hours to complete. After touring in the monastery, group will have lunch at Rebkong and drive to Xining. At Xining, you would be transferred to your hotel.
